Eastern Steel Sdn Bhd
Since 2018, Hiap Teck Venture Berhad has partnered with China’s Jianlong Group, a Fortune Global 500 company and the second-largest private steel producer in China to jointly operate Eastern Steel Sdn Bhd.
Located in Kemaman, Terengganu, Eastern Steel is Malaysia’s first integrated steel mill with blast furnace capabilities, representing a total investment exceeding RM9 billion. The facility produces slab and billet products for both local and export markets.
In 2024, Eastern Steel further expanded its capabilities with the commencement of hot-rolled coil (HRC) production, strengthening its product portfolio and contributing to Malaysia’s goal of steel self-sufficiency.
